Hi guys!
This was my first knitting project using large 9mm knitting needles and a couple of 300g balls of super-thick wool (I used Bernat Light Grey Heather Mega Bulky), both from Hobbycraft. I found the knitting pattern in a book I received as a present at Christmas called 'Knitting with Giant Needles' by Hanna Charlotte Erhorn.
The pattern requires you to use nothing but garter stitch and then some simple sewing skills at the end to connect it all together. In the book, it states the difficulty as being moderate, however, I believe it to be easy if you can knit a confident garter stitch.
Depending on the size of the basket you want (there are two sizes shown in the book), you'd either cast on 32 or 22 stitches. The instructions are very easy to follow and this size of wool is extremely fun to work with!
Knitting with the chunky wool can be a challenge if you're not used to it but you quickly adapt.
Personally, I love using chunkier wool and bigger needles as you can see your project come together very quickly.
The final basket measures approximately 18 cm x 21 cm and is actually fairly robust. I'd recommend this project, as it's fun to knit something useful like this and which takes a relatively small amount of time. I'd estimate that this took me around 2 and a half hours. I'll probably make some more of these baskets in different sizes and colours.

Casting on is much more fun with the chunky wool!
